For 14 lakh HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) students in Maharashtra, the wait for a final judgement on their exams is ended. The state cabinet cancelled Class 12 board exams on Wednesday due to the Covid-19 outbreak, a day after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Council of Indian Secondary Certificate Education (CISCE) boards suspended theirs following a meeting conducted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As the Central Board of Secondary Education develops criteria for grading Class XII students without a final exam, the main concern is ensuring fairness in final scores. Despite differing viewpoints on the assessment process, everyone agrees on the importance of moderation to avoid inflated marks and the need to avoid equating online and offline pre-board tests when computing scores.
