Hey all! I actually meant to release this much sooner, but due to how much work and effort was put into this video, it would've been an injustice to rush it and show it to you without giving it a second thought. To me, this has been a huge milestone in my journey of creating, considering the nature and genre of the music, along with the physical choices it took for me to get it to where I wanted it to be. The visuals, story, and the aesthetic of the video reflect a lot on the process of how this piece came about.
I actually started choreographing this back in December during the holidays when I had a lot of free time. At the moment, I was in Vancouver and could only find time to create in extremely late times of the night. I found myself becoming a borderline insomniac, as I could only gravitate towards choreographing this late in the evening while the rest of the world slept. I felt as if I was transported elsewhere, and it would only make sense to me if I disconnected myself from "reality" in a sense, and became a part of an imaginary place that I couldn't explain. Thus, Midnight City came about.
It was challenging, but I can happily say that I'm proud of the outcome and for reaching in a different direction that I'm not used to.
The story isn't spelled out in black and white, and I kind of like that about it. It's great that people can come up with their own conclusions about the video.
