Moong dal barfi is the most relished barfi prepared with moong dal, mawa and some dry fruits. These moong dal ki barfi makes a perfect dessert for any festival or special occasion.

Ingredients
Moong dal – 1 cup (200 grams)
Sugar – 1 cup (250 grams)
Mawa – 1 cup (200 grams)
Ghee - ¾ cup (150 grams)
Pistachios – 1 tbsp
Green cardamom – 10-12
Lemon-yellow colour

Directions
Getting ready:
1. Soak the moong dal for 3 hours in water. Later, grind the dal into fine paste without adding water. Use 1 to 2 tbsp of water if required. Transfer the paste in a bowl. Thinly slice the pistachios. Finely crush the green cardamom seeds in stone grinder.

Making:
2. Roast the moong dal paste on medium-low flame in a non-stick pan with some ghee until it turns golden brown in colour. After 25 minutes, ghee will start leaving the sides of the moong dal. Transfer it on a plate.

3. Now roast the mawa on medium flame in the same pan until its colour changes slightly. Later, transfer it on the same plate with moong dal.

4. For sugar syrup, simmer sugar and a cup of water in a vessel on flame until the sugar dissolves completely then cook it for 2 more minutes. Afterward, lemon-yellow food colour to the sugar syrup and mix well. Sugar syrup is ready, take it off the flame.

5. Heat a pan on medium-low flame and mix moong dal, mawa and sugar syrup nicely into it until the mixture turns thick in consistency. Then mix green cardamom powder to the mixture as well and turn off the flame.

6. Transfer the moong dal mixture on a greased plate and spread it evenly with the spatula. Sprinkle sliced pistachios on it, press it gently with the back of a spoon. After 2 hours, cut the barfi into desired size pieces and place them on a plate. Moong dal barfi is now ready.

Serving:
7. Serve these mouth-watering and tantalizing moong dal barfi straightaway.
