Puerto Rico has long been a hotbed for wrestling, the island’s love for pro wrestling stretches for decades upon decades. In present day the wrestling world has felt Puerto Rico’s love when Bad Bunny, a world-renowned pop star stepped foot into the WWE ring at WrestleMania 37. This birthed a massive PLE, Backlash Puerto Rico in 2023, modern wrestling fans got to witness the love and admiration that Puerto Rico possesses for the art of sports entertainment. However, Puerto Rico has long had a rocky reputation with wrestlers, this is due to a horrific incident which occurred in 1988. Frank Goodish, better known as Bruiser Brody, a maniacal character who terrified fans all across the world, was murdered in the shower of the locker room prior to an event in Puerto Rico. The man that committed the murder, Jose Gonzalez or Invader 1 as he was known, walked free after a controversial trial. Gonzalez and Brody had a well-documented string of personal issues with one another that could have been the motivation behind the attack. No one knows for certain what Gonzalez’s motivation was, nor do they know how Gonzalez walked free. Brody’s death is arguably wrestling’s greatest mystery which brings forward several theories as to exactly what caused things to unfold the way they did. The death of Bruiser Brody is one of sadness and tragedy, immense tragedy. Without further ado, let’s examine the situation.
