The origin of Doc Lane’s Veterinary Pharmacy began in 1911 when Andrew Jackson Lane graduated from pharmacy school and established Lane Drug Store in Franklin, Georgia. He was soon affectionately nicknamed “Doc” by his customers, who relied on him to compound drugs for their families, pets, and farm animals. In 1933, Doc’s son, Andrew Jackson Lane Jr.,
graduated from the same pharmacy school and established a
small pharmacy in Powder Springs, Georgia, where he also
specialized in compounding drugs and medications for his
customers and their animals. In 1972, Doc Lane’s granddaughter,
Anne Lane Gresham, graduated from the same pharmacy school and continued the family tradition of compounding drugs and medications for humans and animals.
In 1997 Anne accepted a position as Pharmacist in Charge at a large equine hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. Her duties included the development of specialized drugs and compounded medications to treat world-class thoroughbreds and other horses. After a successful 15-year career in the equine industry, during which Anne developed many of the successful equine drug compounds prescribed by top veterinarians today, she established her own compounding pharmacy in 2012. She named it Doc Lane’s Veterinary Pharmacy in tribute to her grandfather and the Lane family’s 100-year history of compounding animal drugs.
Doc Lane’s Veterinary Pharmacy consists of a modern state-of-the-art facility designed and built speci cally for equine veterinary drug compounding. They know horses, inside and out. Doc’s is PCAB Accredited, which means the facility, formulas, sources of supply, and processes have been rigorously tested and certi ed to insure the compounded medications are pure, safe, and of the highest quality. Raw materials are procured only from U.S. human-drug suppliers. Doc Lane’s Veterinary Pharmacy has emerged as the nationwide industry leader in equine drugs and medications, and as the go-to source for equine veterinarians for specialized compounds.
