Over the last thirty-five years, John Rutter has become one of the most successful and popular choral composers of his generation, his lyrical melodies and warm harmonic settings of devotional texts continuing the English cathedral choir tradition. Rutter was invited in 2007 to provide a piece for a service of thanks- giving sponsored by Cancer Research UK. “Look to the Day,” a serene setting of Rutter’s own words, speaks to the promise of a renewed life that is especially comforting to those who face prolonged pain and disease.
