Ilulissat, Greenland's third-largest city, is renowned as one of the country's most popular destinations, largely due to the stunning Ilulissat Icefjord. This breathtaking natural wonder draws numerous visitors each year. For those looking to explore the area, the Blue Route offers an ideal day hike. This 4-5 hour trail winds through the picturesque landscapes surrounding Ilulissat and provides spectacular views of the Icefjord.

There are even better hiking options, some of which are suitable for less experienced hikers. For example, instead of following the entire Blue Route, you can head to an open cabin by the fjord - unfortunately, I failed to find the name of the cabin to put it here as a reference. Although the path can be challenging, it rewards you with breathtaking views. I did the same thing at the end of September 2024. It was cold but the good thing was that I was able to enjoy the surroundings without the hassle of mosquitoes.

The cabin seems to be quite popular, judging by the numerous entries in the guestbook. However, if you're planning to spend the night, be prepared. The stove runs on spirits or gasoline, neither of which is provided, so don’t count on it for warmth. In short, the night will be cold - make sure to bring your own sleeping bag.
