"Ape Hole - Watermen, Crabs, and Crisfield" is a short documentary that chronicles a day in the lives of the Chesapeake Bay watermen, their catch, the Chesapeake Bay Blue Crab (Callinectes sapidus), and the town of Crisfield, Maryland, the "Crab Capital of the World." The film begins with "Before Sunup"–when the watermen venture out into the Pocomoke Sound, and Ape Hole Creek, to fish their crab pots–and concludes with "Crisfield" and "Miss Crustacean Pageant"–when the region celebrates the bounty of the Bay with the Annual National Hard Crab Derby.
