Laxmipur is reeling under an intense cold wave, with freezing temperatures making daily life extremely difficult. The biting cold has particularly affected farmers who are in the middle of paddy harvesting. Despite harsh conditions, farmers are forced to guard their harvested crops throughout the night at threshing floors, enduring heavy dew and chilling winds.
On Friday morning, temperatures in the Laxmipur region reportedly dropped to between 5 and 6 degrees Celsius. Even in such severe cold, farmers remained vigilant overnight, hoping to take home the yield of their year-long hard work at sunrise. To escape the cold, many locals were seen lighting fires for warmth.
