Former Chief Justice of Manipur HC says there seems to be an invisible hand behind turmoil in state

Former Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court, Siddharth Mridul, on Tuesday suggested the possibility of an “invisible hand” orchestrating the ongoing violence in Manipur. He remarked that just as the situation appears to stabilize, fresh episodes of unrest erupt, fueling the conflict. Justice Mridul, who assumed office as Chief Justice in October 2023 during the early days of the turmoil, retired last month. Speaking at a panel discussion in Delhi, he shared these observations, hinting at deeper complexities behind the persistent violence in the state.
