'I was glad when they said unto me' - Charles H.H. Parry

Audio recording of the live performance on Sunday 14th May, 2023 by The Queensland Choir with the Sinfonia of St Andrew’s conducted by Kevin Power, at St. John's Cathedral in Brisbane.

Composed for Edward VII’s 1902 coronation, Parry revised this anthem for the coronation of George V in 1911 adding an introduction as he felt the work had lacked a sense of “pomp and ceremony” to match the pageantry of the event. The work has been performed at every coronation since and at many other state events as well.
