BMW Mk4 navigation laser optical pick up replacement repair fix

This is the way i fixed my BMW Nav mk4. unit which was not reading discs and came up with a few error messages on screen. Before i tried to fix it, i used dvd cleaning disc which does not help, tried reset dvd unit which doesn't help either.

Local shops asked me from 250-300eur to fix it and to buy second hand unit was not an option, because i might end up with the same or even worst unit. I am not professional and i have no any experience with electronics repair etc., but is really not that hard to do it yourself. A few basic tools, correct part and you are set. It took me around 15min. to fix it.

Mk4 unit works like new and it cost me only 35eur. Parts and material can be found on aliexpress or ebay. Just make sure you are ordering correct part for your unit.
