Today’s video is all about Tetralogy of Fallot - Peds Cardiac for Nursing Students and NCLEX Review.

Tetralogy of Fallot is a congenital anomaly characterized by four structural heart defects;
Right ventricular hypertrophy
Aorta displacement
Pulmonic stenosis
Ventricular septal defect (VSD)

Tetralogy of Fallot presents with-
Activity intolerance
Tet spells (cyanosis) due to a rapid drop in the amount of oxygen in the blood
Shortness of breath
Tachypnea
Fatigue and fainting easily
Failure to thrive (small for age, weight loss, and milestone delays)
Difficulty in feeding
Heart murmur (harsh systolic murmur and systolic thrill)
Nursing interventions entail managing Tet spells by placing the patient in a knee-to-chest position, hence increasing systemic vascular resistance while decreasing the right to left shunting in the heart.
