Скачать или смотреть Guildford to Dorking - What Makes This Countryside Walk So Magical?

In this video I walk from Guildford Town Centre to Dorking following the North Downs Way and a short section of the Pilgrims Way. The walk is 22km through some of the most beautiful countryside in Southern England.

We start at Guildford train station, walk through the town, past the castle to get to the North Downs Way. This is a pretty steep climb early on in the walk! Follow the well marked route Pewley Down where we get our first incredible view. From there follow the well marked trail to St Martha's Hill where there are benches or you can sit outside the church and take in the view.

From there continue along the trail to Newlands Corner where they have toilets and refreshments. To the left of the discovery centre and available after closing hours there is a free water bottle refill station you can top up your water bottles!

From here follow the Drove Road through West Hangar and continue East passing Netley Plantation, Netley Park, Netley Heath, then into Hackhurst Downs and Blatchford Down. Blatchford Down isn't shown on the OS Map for some reason, but it is signposted and you enter via a kissing gate.

From there you can just follow the track, which runs naturally along the contour lines at the high point to the viewpoint near Denbies.

For the next section you need to walk along the road a little to get to Dorking. It has high sides and the at least 1 blind bend so I recommend carrying high viz and having lights if there is any chance you may be travelling along this at dusk or later. Its a short section however as an unmarked path opens up that runs parallel to the road after a few hundred metres.

From there you are into Dorking with a choice of three stations to get you back home, Dorking Main, Dorking West or Dorking Deepdene.
