Tonsillitis is a condition where the tonsils, located at the back of the throat, become inflamed and swollen due to infection. The most common symptoms of tonsillitis are inflamed and swollen tonsils, sore throat, difficulty or painful swallowing, swollen and tender lymph nodes on the sides of the neck, stiff neck, fever, a scratchy or muffled voice, bad breath, and headache .
