"I am the Passenger" is the song by Iggy Pop, in which he rides through the city looking out at the urban scenes. In this video, we ride the trains and the trams around central Manchester and look at the astonishing construction sites in progress on all sides.

It's quite a spectacle as you sit by the window, though the train moves fast. I've captured the images at 60 frames per second, slowed down to 30fps so we can have a better look at the construction sites.

Manchester is going through an unbelievable and unprecedented transformation at the moment. More new buildings are appearing than in the previous 2 decades. Many of them are tall. There's no official definition of a skyscraper, but generally 100 metres is a minimum height, or maybe 200 metres. These skyscrapers are on a smaller scale than those in the US, Canada, Dubai or other parts of the world, but they are still very impressive.

I love to travel by train and tram. There are many impressive views as you travel on rails around Manchester, though some views are blocked by overgrown trees.
