Rostov-on-Don airport in southwestern Russia reopened Monday morning after runaway debris was cleared following a plane crash.

The Boeing 737-800, operated by Dubai-based budget carrier Flydubai, crashed early Saturday morning at the Rostov-on-Don airport, killing all 62 people on board.

The repair work on a damaged part of about 350 square meters lasted until 06:00 local time on Monday. The airport resumed operation at 08:00 after runaway test had been conducted. Flight 5116 to St. Petersburg was the first plane to take off since Saturday's crash.

Investigation into the jet crash is still underway as experts began to decipher information from one of the two damaged flight data recorders.

Russian authorities said the aircraft was landing amid high winds and rain that could reduce visibility, and the crash happened as the plane missed the runway in its second landing attempt.

The case now was handed over to a specialized department of Russian Investigative Committee, which has rich experience on air crash cases.
