John Jensen is a high school drop-out and a deadbeat who has nothing to lose. After a run-in with the Beacon City Police Department, he is approached by Gordon Tess, a former businessman with a mysterious offer. John agrees to become a test subject for a secret new experiment, hoping for a chance to turn his life around. But he soon discovers that the experiment has given him extraordinary powers and a new identity: the Hero of Ender, or as John calls himself ENDERBOY!
