Defence Headquarters Denies Targeting Civilians in Sokoto

Nigeria's Defence Headquarters has denied accusations of targeting civilians in a recent airstrike in Sokoto State, aimed at dismantling a terrorist group. The military confirmed that their operation focused solely on terrorist logistics hubs, eliminating several militants. Meanwhile, ECOWAS has rejected allegations from Niger Republic, which accused Nigeria and its neighbours of collaborating with France to destabilise the region. In Abia State, the government has sealed off a building under construction after it collapsed on Christmas Day, though no casualties were reported. Additionally, Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko plans to revoke the amnesty law granted to former President Macky Sall, amidst ongoing political controversy.
