We are installing 12x12 tile on diamond with templates. We will show you how we set up the templates and transferred the template to the tile.

To start this project we made a pair of templates starting on the back wall. We made two templates to make it easier to maneuver the templates down the stairs to the basement. We had a camera malfunction and unfortunately didn’t get the first template making on video.

We dry laid the tile out on the basement floor. Once the tile was properly spaced out we laid the template on top. Then we simply drew the perimeter of the template on the tile.

We also marked off where the niche could be located on the template as well. The niche will be located between two studs. We can slide the niche up and down to make sure we don’t have any small tiles anywhere. This worked out well.

Once we saw how well this worked on the first wall, we simply repeated it on the other two walls.

Getting the pattern located on the other two walls I simply placed hash marks where the pattern would match up.
