Running DSB Class S on Roco smartRail

Описание к видео Running DSB Class S on Roco smartRail

The class S steam locomotives were the largest tank engines in the inventory of the Danish State Railways (DSB). They served exclusively in the 1st District and were especially connected with commuter trains in the larger Copenhagen area. The first two prototype locomotives were built by the German locomotive manufacturer Borsig in Berlin in 1924. The next 18 locos were built at Frich's locomotive factory in Aarhus, Denmark. Class S was designed to be able to drive equally fast forwards as backwards which meant that there was no need to turn the locomotive on the turntable. Thus the loco was often seen driving backwards e.g. from Hillerød to Copenhagen. The class S is a 1-C-2 loco with 3 cylinders and it weighs in at 98 tons. The maximum speed is 90 km/h, maximum train weight is 350 tonnes for passenger trains and up to 700 tonnes for freight trains. Two class S-locos are preserved today: S 736 is owned by the Danish Railway Museum and S 740 which is under renovation at Nordsjællands Veterantog in Rungsted. The model is close to 10 years old and is from Danish manufacturer Hobby Trade. Please visit my blog Sundborg.Wordpress.com (mostly in Danish) for more information on my 1950’s Danish Layout.
