The demonstrations turned violent, with protesters setting fire to the Prime Minister's private residence in Balakot and the homes of other political leaders. In a significant development, the Prime Minister has reportedly asked the army chief for safe passage from his residence. According to reports, the army's leadership has indicated that it is "difficult to handle the situation without leaving power", suggesting a potential change in governance. Amid the turmoil, Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport has been shut down, and there are reports that the Prime Minister may be planning to leave for Dubai.
