If you practice classical pilates, you know that transitions between exercises are vital for advancing your practice and for flow. And you know that how you get on and off the reformer is also part of your movement sequence at the beginning and end of your workout.

We typically take these aspects of the work into consideration when on the reformer and the mat, but it’s equally as important for any apparatus, including the Spine Corrector.

With practice, flow, sequencing, and transitions become part of your Spine Corrector workout and are just as important as those on the reformer and mat. Your body, mind, and spirit become more attuned with each other, and benefits of the work unfold.

The Spine Corrector I’m using in this video is an original Spine Corrector from Carola Trier’s original NYC studio, circa 1950s.

⭐️About Elaine Ewing:
Elaine is owner of Rhinebeck Pilates, and a third generation, certified Authentic Pilates teacher and Certified Teacher of Teachers through the New York Pilates Studio®. Elaine is also the owner of many pieces of original equipment from both Joseph Pilates’ 8th Avenue Studio and Carola Trier’s original studio, all of which can be found within Rhinebeck Pilates.

Elaine teaches classical pilates private sessions and group classes both virtually and in-studio at Rhinebeck Pilates, which has been in business since 2003.

Additionally, Elaine presents workshops with Sean Gallagher that are based on Joseph Pilates’ original method and apparatus. In 2018 Elaine worked alongside with Sean Gallagher to help create the yearly conference at Jacob’s Pillow, Pilates at The Pillow®. They continue to host and teach this yearly conference and that has been the first in the pilates community to present “lost” apparatus and original work. Elaine enjoys researching pilates history and maintains a webpage devoted to openly sharing accurate pilates history titled: Pilates History Research Archive.

Elaine can be found on Pilatesology teaching matwork, Gratz Push Up Devices, Archival Ped-o-Pul, the Resister®, and along with Sean Gallagher, Joe’s Four Original Airplane Boards.
