I haven't used my Hellbores since before the Penance Update so I had to dial in the play style again at the start of the run. Since there's no Shout or Stealth to provide safety, Executioner builds have to rely on their teammates and personal ability in melee to stay alive.

The Hellbores have the unique advantage (besides the Mk3's terrible bayonet) of being able to extend Executioner's Stance from Bayonet kills so it's the most consistent weapon to maintain the stance with during high stress situations. The Hellbores were also arguably the least impacted by the Survivalist Nerf due to the interactions between the Shock Troop talent and Surgical Blessing.
