Описание к видео Megalodons Relocated After 3 Fatalities | Clawed Demo: Part 4

FINALLY I got past the deinonychus deathloop glitch briefly, and I was able to slay enough of them to make meaningful progress, which meant it was aquarium time. YUP, I explore the marine conservation center and have a 10-minute-long panic attack over ancient marine reptiles and gigantic prehistoric sharks. Hopefully my pain is entertaining.

Note: The deinonychus glitch started happening again, so I don't know if I can successfully finish the demo, but I'll be trying to!

Paleontology Notes:

Megalodon could have NEVER evolved if massive ancient marine reptiles were still around, and most sharks had limited biodiversity and body plans until the K-Pg extinction event that wiped out the non-avian dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and large marine reptiles. As a result, sharks started to occupy those niches and they enjoyed a huge boom in genetic diversity, which included gigantism. Megalodon evolved during the Early Miocene, going extinct in the Early Pliocene, before the infamous "ice age" (Pleistocene). The Miocene was when whales started to also evolve into horrifying massive forms like Livyathan, the dreaded sperm whale that rivaled Megalodon in size and ferociousness. This allowed Megalodon to feast on an abundance of whale species, until eventually the climate got too cold for them to sustain their massive bodies, and they disappeared forever after being limited to small regions around the tropics without any whales to hunt. Despite looking superficially like great white sharks, Megalodons were massive mackerel sharks, with their closest living relative being the shortfin mako shark (OF ALL THINGS).

Mosasaurus, along with Liopleurodon, is one of the most misunderstood ancient marine reptiles. Since their skulls are the main parts preserved and the rest of the body tends to not survive the fossilization process, their sizes are massively overestimated by non-scientists. The most massive Mosasaur was probably a little bit smaller than Tyrannosaurus Rex (41 ft max size) at 39 ft. Mosasaurus isn't a dinosaur at all, with their closest living relatives being monitor lizards. Yes, this flippered giant was a big monitor lizard with specialized biology to hunt the Mesozoic oceans. They lived during the Cretaceous, so they definitely encountered Tyrannosaurus Rex, but there are no confirmed fossil evidence of them fighting. If anything, it was common for Mosasaurus to attack Pterosaurs (winged reptiles) that dove into the ocean to catch fish. Mosasaurus had excellent underwater vision and they could spot and capture anything that was diving towards the ocean. The Western Interior Seaway of the United States contains most of the fossil evidence that Mosasaurus was king of the oceans for a very long time.
