Third in a series of videos covering frequently asked questions on Kallmann syndrome (KS) / congenitial hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (CHH).

In this series of videos I will be asking Dr Andrew Dwyer, a leading KS expert some of the questions that are often asked by patients.

We aim to produce short, 3 - 5 min videos to help explain what Kallmann syndrome / CHH is and provide information for patients.


Kallmann syndrome / CHH are not the same conditions as delayed puberty.

The primary cause of the condition is the lack of communication between two endocrine glands, the hypothalmus and the pituitary gland. Failure in the production of reproductive hormones prevents normal puberty from occuring and prevents normal fertility. The condition affects both males and females but is more often diagonosed in males.
