Uber High End Luxury $5 Million Home Sales Jump in The National Capital Region

Matt Cheney of Washington Fine Properties talks about the booming uber high-end home sales taking place in the National Capital Region and takes you on a quick tour of some of the highest homes sales in the region.

The Uber Luxe is moving!

The Capital Region has seen a 52% jump in the uber high-end home sales this past year.

This past year there have been 29 home sales above $5M. Days on market 57. Average price $8.5M. Four of those sales were above $10M. And there are at least five more under contract yet to close.

In the previous year we saw 19 home sales above $5M here in the region. Days on market was 165. Average sales price $7.4M. Two were over $10M.
So days on market have improved by 65% and prices are up 14%!

16 of those homes sold were here in Northwest Washington….and 9 of them were here in the one and only Georgetown.

3 of the homes were in Bethesda Chevy Chase…and Mclean saw 8 of these properties trade.

1607 28th Street, NW. The third most expensive property to sell was the circa 1887 Brooke House, here in Georgetown, once the home of Teddy Kennedy, sold in January 2020 for $12M. The buyer was the neighboring Evermay Estate.

1617 29th Street, NW. The second highest sale was the circa 1911 Hollerith House, also here in Georgetown, the original owner was an inventor who’s company later on become part of the original IBM, it sold in May 2020 for $17.75M. The buyer was the Embassy of the State of Qatar.

409 Chain Bridge Road. And the most expensive home sold here in the Capital Region was here in North Arlington just down the road from McLean, The Falls, complete with its own views overlooking the Potomac and a Frank Lloyd Wright quest house, sold in January 2020 for $45M, the seller was a co-founder of AOL and the buyer was The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
