The Porsche Carrera 6 from 1966 was the first purpose built racecar by Porsche. The engine was taken from the 911 roadcar but lightened by 54 kg to a total weight of 130 kg. Fibreglass reinforced plastic was used to make the body.
Thanks to the use of titanium, magnesium and aluminium the overall weight could be kept to a featherweight of 620 kg for customer cars.

This "TV" car was used to record spectacular video's during the 1967 1000km of the Nürburgring.
In this video it was driven by Harm Lagaaij (NDL) who is a retired car designer for Porsche, Ford and BMW. He designed cars like the 911, 928, 993, carrera GT, BMW Z1, Ford Sierra and many more.
