France's new Foudre Multiple Launch Rocket System is a domestically developed artillery system designed to modernize the French Army's long-range strike capabilities. Developed by the French company Turgis and Gaillard, the Foudre has been crafted in secrecy over the past two years to replace the aging Lance-Roquettes Unitaire systems based on the American M-270 MLRS.

The Foudre is positioned as a fully sovereign, French-made solution and a direct competitor to the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS). This development addresses a critical capability gap, as the Lance-Roquettes Unitaires are expected to end their service life by 2027.
