Why are you training/ exercising? I'm asking because of something I heard the other day on a podcast that led me to an "ah-ha" moment. The idea behind that is this:

We train for one of two reasons. The first reason is out of love and respect for our bodies. We want our bodies to be strong and move well. Training is a tool used for growth and progress. The more efficient the training is, the better our body responds and the better feel. That feeling lends itself to sense of freedom. Freedom from pain and limitation. Some might even argue from disease itself. When you are training with this reason in mind, you are functioning in an abundance mindset. What might you be capable of the stronger you get? How long can you keep up with your kids as they get older? The bottom line is that training/ exercise is done out a sense of betterment and improvement. It's usually quality based, planned out organized training.

The other reason isn't as promising. We exercise as a form of punishment. How many calories can we burn, how much sweat can we lose, how many hours can be spent pounding the pavement to overcome the things we feel we did poorly. We didn't eat well enough or we ate too much or we didn't get enough steps in, etc. Exercise plays the role as the bully in our lives. It didn't get that way on its own. We let it. We encourage it. Exercise is performed based on fear and done as a form of prevention. Prevention of getting to a bad place. This in turn creates limitations and fosters a scarcity mindset. You won't ever be enough but you might not be bad enough. How can you lose the same damn 10 pounds that have been plaguing you for years? That's not a good place to be. This type of exercise is usually quantity based, shot in the dark, work harder sweat more style exercise.
