Quick clips of our supposedly scary Shep / Akita-mix foster dog "Sookie", who was thought to be a possible cat-killer based on her behaviour while living in the shelter environment. Never, ever, ever think that you can accurately judge an animal by their behaviour while in a shelter!

Sookie is available through adoption from the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue. She is young, energetic and athletic; she would make an exceptional companion to a very active person looking for a buddy for hiking / skiing / cycling / etc. She is very smart, entertaining and a real people-pleaser - with daily exercise, consistent training and socialization opportunities she will mature into a really well-rounded and impressive pooch. Very high potential for a sport, particularly agility. She definitely exhibits territorial behaviour (particularly leash reactive) so would be best placed with a person or couple who know how to continue her training and doggy socialization. Although she loves people, including little ones, she's a little too rambunctious to live with children, and until she's had more socialization should be in a home where she is an only-dog.
