Makeup video for beginners done at Cocoon Salon by a makeup artist. This is a simple party makeup video for beginners. In this Indian makeup video, makeup artist followed the basic makeup steps and has applied smoky eyes effect to the model and matte finish lipstick.

Following are the steps of makeup video followed by the makeup artist.

1. Cleaning the face: First step in makeup is cleaning the face with gentle cleanser. Cleanser removed excess oil & dirt. You might have to use makeup remover if previous other makeup exists on the face.

2. Moisturise the face: The Second step in makeup is usually moisturising the face. This step moisturises the skin with natural oils and prevents drying and skin becoming flaky. Always use an oil-free moisturiser.

3. Apply primer: Makeup artist in this makeup tutorial for beginners did not use a primer by choice. But you may use the primer to form a base for makeup and it helps to stay longer. The primer also gives matte look.

4. Apply Concealer: Next makeup step is Concealer and is used to cover the dark circles and under eye circles. Dab with a finger on spots. Also used to highlight eyes by using under lower eye line.

5.Foundation: One of the important steps in makeup is the foundation. Foundation is used to create a uniform skin tone. If you use primer, let it dry and then apply foundation. test which colour suits you before applying. Blend foundation well with neck and jawline.




6. Eye base:
6 a. Apply eye base which acts like a contouring.
6 b. Apply eyeshadow colour: choose the right colour depending on your requirement. Blend with an eyebrow brush. Artist used 3 different colours for the smoky eye effect. First baby pink, then greyish black, then copper and blended it artistically.

6 c. Apply eyeliner: Next step in makeup for an eye is eyeliner. The makeup artist used black eyeliner which highlights the eye. You may use liquid or pencil eyeliner on eyelids. Draw above the lash line.

6 c. Eyelash curler: Adds definition to eyelashes.
6 d. Mascara: The final touch for the eye is mascara. Choose the right colour. Add definition to your eye.
6 e. Highlight eyeshadow: Apply lighter colour to lower line of the eyebrow to hight light the eyeshadow. Also with the same technique, highlight the inner eye corner. Blend as required.
6 e. Apply eyebrow powder and eyebrow gel. Use an eyebrow brush to brush to proper shape.

After applying makeup to the eye, retouch up the face with concealer and or foundation if required.

7. Contouring: In makeup, contouring is used to add definition to your face by applying 2 shades darker than the skin colour. Use swiping motion with a brush, on the jawline to the chin. It creates a kind of shadow on your face where required.

8. Apply compact: Apply compact if required.

9. Blushing: Highlight your cheekbone and prevents your face from looking pale. Some to locate the apple of your cheek and swipe with a blush brush.

10. Lips:

10 a. Use lip liner to line your lips in natural shape. Use a lip pencil which closely resembles your natural lip colour.
10 b. Apply lipstick: Makeup artist used a matte style for lipstick in the makeup video.

11. Apply makeup setting spray: Finally, spritz spray to make your makeup last longer. Spray from a foot or away and let it dry.

Makeup is an art and the above are basic steps for beginners to start experimenting and try your own ways while picking colours, lipstick, eye colours, covering dark circles etc.

The makeup artist used MAC products in the makeup tutorial for beginners video. There are many different products available in the market for you try makeup. Also, brushes are very important when you do makeup as right brush helps you do the art professionally.
