Finland-Sweden Send 8500 Troops for "Nordic Response" As Russia Vows Response To Nato Expansion

NATO began a major exercise involving over 20,000 soldiers from 13 nations, to defend its newly expanded Nordic territory. The Nordic Response 2024 drills will span nearly two weeks and take place in the northern regions of Finland, Norway, and Sweden. This exercise marks Finland's largest-ever participation in a foreign drill, with over 4,000 Finnish soldiers joining forces. Finland, which shares a 1,340km (830-mile) border with Russia, joined Nato in April 2023 following decades of military non-alignment. Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and the US and UK will also participate in Nordic Response 2024. Finland's President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian PM Jonas G. Støre’s will inspect the drills on March 7. The drill comes amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
