Tim Collins Quartet Live in Munich (2013)

Описание к видео Tim Collins Quartet Live in Munich (2013)

Do you remember the days when live concerts were possible? It doesn't seem like all that long ago.

In the absence of actual live performances, I've been digging through my archives and found the complete recording of this concert from 2013. I had completely forgotten about it - and I'm excited to upload it for you all to see now.

This concert took place in January of 2013 in the radio hall in Munich, Germany. It was an important time in my life - I had been living in Europe for three years, and a lot of the compositions featured here were brand new at the time, and they represented a certain type of nervous excitement I felt for the future. There are two songs from this concert that I've previously uploaded to this channel - "Elegance" and "Everlong" - but I wanted to include the entire concert here after watching the whole thing again.

Special thanks to MV who edited the original film back in 2013 ;)

This concert was two sets, which I've edited together into one long video - every song is here. I've included titles, plus composition notes and time stamps below. A lot of this music I've recorded and released on my albums - you can find them all on Spotify (link below).

The band:
Tim Collins - vibraphone
Matthias Bublath - piano
Peter Cudek - bass
Paul Wiltgen - drums

Song list:
0:25 - "Out and across" (Collins) - This song represents how I felt moving out of my home country and across the ocean. Hopeful.
9:30 - "Waltz for Someone" (Collins) - A ballad for no one in particular.
17:15 - "Lost Opportunities" (Collins)
28:56 - "Frenchmen Street" (Collins) - Best street in New Orleans, at least in 2008 when I was last there.
37:00 - "Valcour" (Collins) - Named for Valcour Island in Lake Champlain.
43:33 - "Crazy Cat" (Collins) - This depicts that actions of my cat when I try to practice vibes.
52:06 - "Butterflies" old version (Collins) - This is the original version of the song - it has changed quite a bit if you've seen my recent recording of it.
58:24 - "The Anchor Song" (Björk) - One of my all time favorite Björk songs - I can never tell if it's the happiest song ever or the saddest song ever.
1:05:45 - "Stunt Double" (Collins) - When you write a jazz tune but it's really prog rock.
1:13:07 - "Elegance" (Collins) - A duo dedicated to my Hungarian grandfather (1919-2019).
1:21:04 - "Machin" (Collins) - I wrote this song after listening to some of the music of Antonio Machin.
1:26:38 - "Into the great wide open" (Tom Petty) - Tom Petty was an absolute genius - this is one of the masterworks.
1:32:23 - "The Tunnel" (Collins) - A tune of mine meant to confuse everyone and get you into a trance.
1:42:26 - "Everlong" (Collins) - The Foo Fighters song. That one.

As always, I hope you enjoy the video!
