The Supreme Court has issued a notice and sought responses from the governments of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi regarding the 'Nameplate' directive for shops along the Kanwar Yatra route. The directive has been stayed until July 26. The Court stated that food sellers should not be compelled to display the names of owners and staff but emphasized that authorities must ensure Kanwariyas receive vegetarian food and maintain cleanliness. The case is being heard by Justices Hrishikesh Roy and SVN Bhatti, with petitions filed by the NGO 'Association for Protection of Civil Rights,' DU Professor Apoorvanand, columnist Aakar Patel, and TMC MP Mahua Moitra. The matter is also expected to be debated in the current parliamentary session.
