Back in 1890 Brockton, Massachusetts, one retail worker named James Edgar decided his department store needed ✨festive chaos✨. He threw on a Santa suit—no training, no rules, no waivers—and kids absolutely lost it. Screaming. Crying. Trauma unlocked. Parents? Loved it. Sales? SKYROCKETED.

Other stores saw this madness and said, “Yeah… we should all traumatize children for profit.”
Fast-forward to 1924, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade rolls out, Santa shows up like the CEO of Christmas, and BOOM—mall Santas become mandatory.
