Fresh off a string of victories at the 20 25 Paris Air Show, Airbus has secured yet another high-profile order—this time from Taiwan’s flag carrier and SkyTeam member, China Airlines. The deal, reportedly valued at over 2 billion dollars, includes a mix of narrowbody and widebody aircraft and adds further momentum to Airbus's global winning streak.
Notably, this announcement comes just a week after another Taiwanese carrier, Starlux Airlines, unveiled its own Airbus order at the same air show, further cementing Airbus’s strong position in the Asia-Pacific market, also enhancing the airline's competitive position.

According to Reuters, China Airlines has committed to purchasing 13 aircraft: five A3 50 900 widebodies and eight A3 21 Neo narrowbodies. Of the A3 21 Neo jets, five will be sourced through Air Lease Corporation for a total of 240 million dollars, while negotiations are still ongoing for the remaining three. As for the five A3 50 900, this carrier has capped the purchase price at 1.965 billion dollars, though that figure could drop to 1.148 billion dollars should the airline choose to lease rather than buy.
They surely know that leasing would offer significant savings, yet they still chose to purchase outright. There must be something that makes them want to commit to Airbus aircraft for the long term. In fact, China Airlines is no stranger to Airbus; the airline has long shown a preference for both the A3 21 Neo and A3 50 900—precisely the two models included in this latest deal. Data from ch-aviation shows that China Airlines currently operates 17 A3 21 Neo aircraft, with 13 active in service and an average age of just 2.1 years. These narrowbodies are configured with 12 business class seats and 168 in economy, serving short- and medium-haul routes.
