National Institute of Technology Puducherry (NIT Puducherry or NITPY) is an autonomous public technical and research university located in the city of Karaikal in Union Territory of Puducherry and is a coastal enclave in the basin of river Kaveri within the Nagapattinam District of Tamil Nadu. Founded and Established in 2010, it is one among the 31 National institutes of Technology of India and is declared as an Institute of National Importance[3] by the Government of India under National Institutes of Technology, Science Education and Research Act, 2007.


NIT Puducherry is having a campus spread around 258 acres in the suburban village Poovam and Thiruvettakudy of city of Karaikal in the Union territory of Puducherry. NIT Puducherry is a fully residential campus. The institute and hostels are equipped with Internet and LAN facility. The campus consists of boys hostel, girls hostel, science block, administrative block, guest house, director residence, staff residence. The institute also has Sports complex with Football ground, Basketball ground, Cricket ground and Badminton Court.


NIT Puducherry new campus is spread over 256 acres of lush green land in the village Poovam and Thiruvettakudi of Karaikal. NIT Puducherry address is NH32, Karaikal, Puducherry 609609. The institute campus comprises of boys hostel, girls hostel, science block, guest house, director residence, staff residence and playground.
NIT Puducherry offers a wide range of facilities to its students and faculty members. It has a well-equipped library with multiple books covering various sectors of Engineering and Technology. The campus has a grievance cell that works round the clock to interact, counsel and resolve the problems faced by the students. Along with these, the college has signed an MOU with Vinayaka Mission Medical College and Hospital, Karaikal who provides proper medical facilities to the students. NIT Puducherry hostel has separate hostel blocks for boys and girls. NIT Puducherry hostel facilities are available for both Undergraduate and postgraduate students. NIT Puducherry hotel fee structure is very minimal and has to be paid every year during admission. The campus also offers sports facilities to its students. The campus is entirely WI-FI enabled.
There are several clubs and societies in NIT Puducherry. It has an innovation club set up, which provides facilities to organize various extracurricular activities. Other organizations include Central Stores, Cultural, Housekeeping, ID Cards, IPR Cell, Library, Literary, Media Committee, Medical Care Committee, NSS Officer, Purchase, RajBhasha Committee, SC / ST / OBC Cell, Security, Swachh Bharat, Training and Placement, Transport and Web Team. The Institute also organises different fests all over the year.
