Check Engine Light On: How to Fix and Reset Warning Light Stays On or Flashing

Have you ever wondered WHY the check light sometimes comes on but I have NO faults?
▪️The dashboard indicators guarantee the correct operation of the car, as well as the safety of the driver and passengers on board, so it is very likely that at some point you have seen an engine-shaped warning light come on. This indicator usually comes on when you start the vehicle and then goes off, but do you know what it means?
▪️This is the "Check Engine" light, also known, in Spanish, as "Check Engine" and indicates different situations, such as:
1- as a relevant fault for exhaust gases
2- combustion failures
3- Failures in the ignition system, spark plugs, coils
4- Failures in ABS, MAF, TPS and some other control sensors
5- Failures in the catalytic system (catalyst)
6- Faults in automatic transmissions (not in all cars the faults are detected by a scanner)
7- Failures in the engine system, VVTI, VTEC, EGR, TURBO, some others
8- Failures in the braking system, mainly in the electronic brake
▪️Many CHECK LIGHT warnings do not represent any sensible or significant problem in the operation of the car, which is why we ignore it. The CHECK warning light can come on as an indicator of deactivated airbags, which does not represent a mechanical or electronic problem in operation, but it does represent a problem for the safety of the driver and passengers.
▪️Unfortunately in countries like ours, in which the fleet is predominant, RODADA (bought in the USA crashed), we are used to having a car with a check light on
😫The very common practice, in Guatemala, is:
1- Turn off the light with a scanner, to market it, but, this indicator (check light), with the passing of days or even months, can turn on out of nowhere, regularly with the change of the charging battery, it appears, The client gets scared, BUT, it's not that it didn't have CHECK ENGINE, turned on, IT'S SIMPLE, they had restarted it (reset).
2- Regularly the client purchases the car, the dealer turns off the light, and as already indicated, it can remain off for an uncertain time, and a few days later the light APPEARS. Simple, they turned it off to sell it.
3- Many lights are removed from the dashboard (they override the focus), to give the appearance of zero failures.
😢If the airbags activated (exploded), WITHOUT A DOUBT THE CHECK LIGHT should be on.
The check light in many cases does not represent a SIGNIFICANT FAILURE, it is a warning.
😌Recommendation:
1- Always use an updated scanner and this (the scanner) will have the ability to recover all the fault codes stored in the car.
2- Always check all control modules, updated and modern scanners have the capacity to do this.
3- When buying a car, if it has the CHECK light on, there is no need to be alarmed, you must be aware that it is a car with a collision, IT IS NOT NEW, and this will often lead to failures or warnings that are detected by the computer and sends the warning through the indicator (check light)
4- It is always important to know which failures will affect us and which will not.
