Siddhas who accompany you on your journey...!! Trip to Parvathamal...

Parvathamalai is located in South Mahadeva Mangalam, Kalasappakkam Circle, Thiruvannamalai District.

Parvatam means mountain and Parvatamalai means mountain of all mountains...

Mahadevamalai is spread over 5,500 acres. Parvadamalai is a famous mountain like Kollimalai, Surulimalai, Pothikaimalai, Velliangirimalai, Chathuragirimalai and Tiruvannamalai where the famous Siddhas lived.

This hill also has names like Navira Hill, South Kailayam, Trishulagiri, Sanjeevigiri, Parvathagiri, Kandhamalai, Mallikarjuna Hill.

Malai Patugadam is the only Sangam period book that mentions the towns and people of Tiruvannamalai district. Navira Hill is mentioned in this book. Over time this mountain came to be known as Parvathamalai..

There are two ways to reach this mountain temple namely South Mahadeva Mangalam route and Kadlaadi route. Whichever way you go, the two will merge together once you get to Badimalai.

This hill is situated at a distance of 3 km from South Mahadeva Mangalam. If you go this route you can visit the Pachaiyamman Temple, where alms are always offered. Devotees should visit this goddess and then worship Saptha Munis and visit the Veerabhatra temple located at the base of the hill.

Parvathamalai has a height of 4,560 feet. Spread over an area of 5,500 acres, this temple is visited by lakhs of devotees throughout the year. It is said that adivasis live under this mountain, but the truth about it is not known yet..

Dogs (Bhairavas) accompany the trekkers on this route. The myth is that these creatures are aspects of the Siddhas who live on the mountain. There is also an ancient fort surrounding this temple. It is said to have been built by a small land king named Nannan.

One of the legends associated with Parvata Hill is that a piece of Sanjeevi Hill fell on this spot when Hanuman brought Sanjeevi Hill to revive Lakshmana. This area is famous for various herbs and shrubs which can cure deadly disease. The breeze blowing from the mountain through the plants and bushes is also believed to cure the disease.

Another legend associated with this holy place relates that Lord Shiva, on his way back to South India from the Himalayas, set foot on Mount Parvata on his way to Arunachal.
