Meet BYJU’S Young Genius Abdul Qadir Indori! The 14-year-old para-swimming champion from Madhya Pradesh is a force to be reckoned with.

In 2014, Abdul met with an accident in which he lost both his hands due to an electric shock. After three months of being hospitalised, he needed a new focus and started learning to swim. At first, it was difficult for him, as he couldn’t find balance. He couldn’t even wear a tube to stay afloat, but the champion to be was determined. Just a year after his accident, Abdul participated in his first swimming competition and won a gold medal.

Since then, the 14-year-old has been on a winning spree. He won three gold medals at the National Para-Swimming Championship held in Bangalore in 2021, two golds and one silver at the XVII National Para- Swimming Championship in Udaipur in 2017 and won two golds and one silver medal at the XVI National Para-Swimming Championship in Jaipur in 2016.

Abdul’s undying spirit and his drive to succeed is his biggest strength and that is what makes him an inspiration for all. “If I decide to do something, I will make sure I do it,” says the para-swimming champion.
