About the speaker:

After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Pastoral Studies, Helen came to realize she no longer held the beliefs she was trained to spread. Now, she’s bringing her training and passion for community to Oasis with a desire to bring together secular families who don’t fit in a church.

By day, Helen is a professional organizer and public speaker. She holds a Master’s degree in Human Services with a graduate certificate in Professional Counseling. Previously, she served as Center Director and Counselor for a local non-profit, helping young families in crisis, and ran a successful small business with her husband.

Recently, Helen was instrumental in helping to co-found the Oasis Network, the national affiliate organization for all Oasis communities. She currently serves as the Network’s co-president.

Helen has two sons, one whom she and her husband foster/adopted through the foster care system. In her spare time, she enjoys reading non-fiction, dancing, teaching group fitness and enjoying the occasional sweet guilty pleasure.
