Border Crossing Guidance – From Qatar
This will help for those who crossing the border via land route for the first time
1. Doha to Border Approx. 95 km drive
2. Just before the last Roundabout you may take right to Waqod to fill gas, and to use washroom facilities
3. Then exit from Waqod to the Roundabout and take right to Qatar Border
4. Qatar Border has 3 types of Entry gates 1. Families 2. GCC Nationals 3. Other Nationalities. You may see Masjidh and other facilities, in case if you want to use the facilities, please park right side before enter into the gates.
5. If you are with family, regardless of any Nationality, please proceed to Family Lane
6. Stop at the gate and look at your left, you may see a small screen and wait for your counter number
7. There are counters with names like A1, A2, A3…….. A8
8. Once the counter Number displayed, drive to the specific counter and submit your Passport and QID
9. Once the Exit issued, they will provide a paper with barcode
10. Then proceed to next Gate, you may see a screen on your left to scan your barcode
11. Park you car near to the screen – then only you may be able to scan the barcode while sitting in car (Similar to parking gates)
12. Once you scan the barcode, gate will be open, you may drive to next gate and show your passport and the paper with barcode, then you may exit Qatar
13. If there are no issues in your documents, above 5-12 will take 5 to 10 min maximum.
14. Now drive towards Saudi Border Approx. 2-3km and follow passenger vehicles sign, and you will turn left while straight road is for trucks.
15. Once turn left, you will see a counter, just drive through because there is nothing to check at this point (Google Map will not show this road) – At this point your local SIM will be activated to roaming, any calls you made after this point may charge you with roaming rates.
16. please drive straight and keep right until you see the Building No. 2 and 3, then park your car at this building (first time entry required fingerprint)
17. Gents – Building No.03, Ladies Building No.02 (Sometimes they allow families in Building No.03) once they stamp the entry permit, please check whether they wrote the BORDER NO. in each passport – This border number is required for you to buy a SIM in KSA
18. Then drive through an exit just opposite to building no.03 towards gates, please enter through the gates which shows green lights.
19. Then at the counter, you need to show your istimara and register your car in the system, then you will proceed to vehicle checkup, sometimes they may take your bags out to check. (There will be some people to assist to unload and load your bags for checking – if required)
20. Then proceed to next counter and provide your passport for some checking and entries, if there is NO Border number, you will be sent back to building No.03 to get your border number.
21. Then keep right of the lane, and you will see lane names with INSURED (Left side) and UNINSURED (Right side), if you do not have KSA INSURANCE please proceed to uninsured line and obtain the insurance (1 Week 138, 2 weeks 230 including VAT)
22. Then proceed to next counter – They asked me the nationality and opened the gate to proceed
23. Then you are free to travel – From here 3rd roundabout you may see supermarkets and phone shops to your left, so you can buy your sim if required.
24. When you exit from KSA, please make sure Exit stamp is placed in all your passports and a small paper which they will provide you.
