Here we have a theme and variation which is short and easy enough for the intermediate student to master. The counterpoint in the second section is handled with careful fingering. There's some nice left hand bass melody supporting the third section. As always, a strong tone in the soprano line helps to lift the performance quality. Singing with our pinky finger is so very important. Although the key is D minor, I sense a feeling of quiet triumph and dignity in the notes. It is solemn but not sad, as the notes speak of nobility and balance. It's just the quality you would expect in a Baroque court setting. Enjoy!!
