One day i Luxor, Egypt!

From Hurghada we took a day trip to Luxor. It was a five-hour drive in a minibus, starting at 04:30 in the morning, and first stop in the historical city of Luxor was the Karnak Temple Complex. Wow! It’s impressive how the ancient Egyptians could build this massive temple! We learned how, they used mud ramps to build these massive buildings.

On our way to lunch we passed the Luxor temple and got on a boat for a ride on the Nile River, the longest river on earth. We also saw the Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III.

Valley of the kings is an area in Egypt where rock-cut tombs were excavated for pharaohs and powerful nobles under the New Kingdom of ancient Egypt. We saw three tombs and were again impressed of how they could build all this for such a long time ago!

The hectic day, wishing we had more time to explore each place more, ended at the mortuary temple of Hatshepsut. Located opposite the city of Luxor, it is considered to be a masterpiece of ancient architecture.
