A tempered glass screen protector that fills in scratches? Really?

Today we’re going to review the Phantom Glass. This is a tempered glass screen protector that’s most unique selling feature is the claim that it fills scratches. The focus word is “claim” as our screen protector ended up with some pretty nasty scratch marks.

Based on our time with this screen protector, we’ve given it a score of 3.5 Eh’s out of 5. This is an average screen protector that does generally as well as the Bodyguardz ScreenGuardz Pure, Tech Armor Ballistic Glass but not as well as the Sir Lancelot Bullet Shield. At MReh, we base our reviews on actual usage so we’ll take the product out, slap it on our devices and do stuff to them. And we do that because we generally don’t like marketing fluff and for the Phantom Glass, the fluffiest part of their product is there trademark which states” The Last Screen Protector You’ll ever need”. I doubt that….a lot.

In terms of design, this screen protector isn’t as thick as others and is re-applicable if its in perfect condition. I didn’t have any problems with bubbling which is probably due in part to the Silicone Nano-Adhesion.

Like most screen protectors, the Phantom glass only covers the touchable area but the edges of the protector are slightly rounded so its not as noticeable as other screen protectors and isn’t easily shippable by hand.

In terms of protection, keys and knives don’t do anything to the screen protector but a metal file will definitely leave a mark. One of the most unique features of this product is the “fills scratches” claim but while it was sitting on two different iPhones being tossed around in bags and purses, the screen protector ended up getting pretty scratched and there was definitely no filling.

In terms of functionality, I didn’t come across any issue with the sensitivity of the iPhone’s touchscreen. The viewability of your iPhone is decent as there is no clarity loss or increased glare but the screen protector isn’t great with fingerprint. There is an oleophobic coating on the screen protector but its not great. In fact, the poor fingerprint smudging was the first thing my wife noticed when I put it on her iPhone.

As you can see in this photo, the Phantom glass screen protectors grease marks are much more smudged than a naked iPhones which makes it a little harder to view. I did this smearing test many times by rubbing my face grease over my hands and painting the iPhones screens like I was an aspiring artist.

So that’s all I got for the the Phantom glass.
