FAIR CLONMANY

The green glens of Meetiagh keep calling to me.
Calling me back from over the sea.
Saying “come back again to the Land of the Free,
You’ll always find a welcome in old Clonmany”.

And it’s then I remember when I was a lad,
A roam through the mountains way up in Gortfad.
You could see the whole country down to the sea
There’s beauty unequalled in fair Clonmany

The black rocks of Tullagh, the Gap of Mamore,
The green fields of Binion and Old Pollan Shore.
Just some of the places a stranger can see,
If he happens to stroll into old Clonmany.

Come stroll around Cloontagh on a bright summer’s day.
Or visit Mindoran as they’re making the hay.
Then wander to Leenan, that bay by the sea,
Sure you’d swear you’re in heaven in fair Clonmany.

The cross upon Bulba; Crockaughrim rises high,
And look at Sliabh Sneacht up there in the sky.
Sure God made it lovely for you and for me,
That little homeland we call “fair Clonmany”.

God bless it and keep it that place that’s so dear,
For thousands who wander and leave here each year.
For they all can look back, no matter where they be,
Proudly saying “my home’s Clonmany”.
