North Bengal Wild Animals Park is a proud caretaker of eleven Bengal Tigers and has achieved a landmark through successful breeding of tigers thrice including the birth of White Bengal Tigress. The achievement of successful breeding is credited to the founder stock of zoo – Bengal Tigress Sheela. On 10-11 March 2022 till midnight tigress Sheela gave birth to five tiger cubs in between the time interval of 9:30 pm and 12:50 am. However out of five cubs, one cub could not survive due to low immunity. Presently the four cubs are named Shiva(male), Shera(male), Tejal (female), Tara(female) are four months old & are growing steadily under the care of mother Sheela & the park. The cubs spend most of their daytime in kraal amidst varied structural enrichments such as wooden machaan, swings, balls, resting logs etc, snuggling up their mother, licking & pacing upto one another. The park also witnesses adorable visuals of the siblings trying to explore the source of pool water coming through the inlets & later splashing into the pool joyfully. The health & well being of cubs is monitored 24*7 by the park authorities along with necessary biosecurity measures schedules which are regularly being followed.
