Chris Yeager (Mountain Brook football head coach) brought Tony Morton to practice.

Tony and Chris are lifelong friends and high school teammates from Fairview High School (10-15 miles east of Cullman).

Tony is fighting a terminal illness for the SECOND time in his life and treatment starts next week. Today, Tony received an unexpected surprise from his former teammate of nearly 50 years.

While visiting the Spartans' spring practice, Tony walked out onto the turf at Mountain Brook High School and was greeted by the cheer squad and football team. They cheered him on and escorted him all the way out to midfield donning shirts that read “Go Hot Dog Go,” a nod to his high school nickname ‘Hot Dog.’

Chris had previously converted 16mm film to a digital file and a 53 yard touchdown run from Tony was shown from 48 years ago.

Tony was greeted with roaring applause from the on-looking Spartans and then addressed the cheer and football teams with a word of appreciation and proclaimed that today was one of the best moments of his life.

Tony begins treatment next Tuesday and shared about the importance of brotherhood and support for one another. Chris echoed his sentiment and players and cheerleaders lined up for autographs from a former Fairview Aggie turned into a Mountain Brook Spartan legend.
