Описание к видео The mistake every new consultant makes

This slide from McKinsey looks pretty good, but can you spot what's missing? Sure, it's got good structure, nice design, and decent content—all the important pieces of a good slide—but they've made a critical mistake that I see almost every new consultant make, and that's a lack of focus. The main message of the slide seems to be that AI adoption by organizations is increasing, but that's not immediately clear.

When you show your slide to the audience, they're already going to be overwhelmed, so you want to keep the content on the slide as focused as possible. In other words, when deciding what to put on your slide, remember that just because you can doesn’t mean you should.

So in building your next slide, try these three simple steps to make it more focused. Number one: decide on a clear message and put that message in the title. Number two: remove content that doesn't directly support your message. Then, number three: emphasize your message with color, bolding, and callouts. Naturally, there’s a trade-off to removing information from your slide; if you're not careful, you can remove important context. But if you can be clear about what you're trying to say, it'll be easier to understand what you should keep and what you should get rid of.
